About the event

Railjam is a high-energy ski and snowboard competition hosted by the MSU Wake Team. Held one to three times annually—contingent on Michigan’s unpredictable snowfall—the event has grown into a massive campus staple. Its reputation for excellence has attracted major industry sponsors in the past, including Red Bull, Ronix, and Hyperlite.

What began as a local gathering now draws a diverse crowd; spectators and athletes travel from across campus, throughout the state of Michigan, and even from neighboring states to participate. Typically held at a venue just off-campus, the event offers a high-octane atmosphere where competitors "throw" technical tricks across a custom-built course of rails and jumps.

The entire competition is powered by a rewinch system, providing the necessary speed and pull for athletes to showcase their best maneuvers in a compact, urban setting. Whether you are there to compete for the podium or just to watch friends hit features, Railjam stands as a highlight of the winter season at Michigan State.
